FCNRCD spring tree planting projects have kicked off with a half acre planting on the Rock River in Franklin

On Tuesday, April 9th we kicked off our spring tree planting with a half acre project in Franklin along the Rock River! This planting incorporated native tree and shrub species into a riparian buffer area between the river and a crop field.

We planted 14 species including White Pine, Quaking Aspen, Paper Birch, Snowberry, Boxelder, Red Osier Dogwood, Silky Dogwood, Cottonwood, Arrowwood Viburnum, Buttonbush, Silver Maple, Red Maple, Balsam Fir, and Speckled Alder.

This planting project was funded through a grant from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation via the Natural Resources Conservation Council's Trees for Streams Program.
