About the event
The Franklin County NRCD invites you to a community birding event at the High Ponds Farm Nature Preserve in Montgomery. This guided outing, led by FCNRCD staff and a naturalist from the Hazen's Notch Association, will provide an opportunity to observe and learn about local bird species, seasonal migration patterns, and the important habitats that support wildlife throughout our landscape. Everyone with an interest in birds, conservation, outdoor recreation, and environmental stewardship is welcome.
We plan to walk along the Beaver Pond Trail. The walk itself will be approximately one mile total as an out-and-back along a relatively flat trail.
Participants should park at the High Ponds Farm Trailhead Parking area on Rossier Road, located 0.6 miles east of the Hazen's Notch Welcome Center (P3 on the attached trail map).
Please bring comfortable walking shoes, water, and binoculars if you have them. A limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow.
Note: This event will be limited to 15 participants.
If thunder or lightning is expected, the event may be cancelled or postponed. A decision will be made by 10am the day prior to the event, or by the 8am on the morning of the event if conditions develop unexpectedly.
FCNRCD is committed to making our events accessible to everyone. If you require an accommodation or service to fully participate, please contact Viva Goetze at Viva@FranklinCountyNRCD.org or 802-307-2697 at least 3 days prior to the event.
