About the event

The Franklin County NRCD invites you to the workshop Lakeshore Restoration Permitting (Part One): Pre-Implementation, the first in a series of workshops on lakeshore restoration permitting. Located at a project site on Lake Carmi in Franklin, VT, this event will bring together staff from conservation districts and watershed organizations, as well as other clean water project implementers, to learn about lakeshore restoration projects and the permitting process.

We will be joined by VT DEC Lakes & Ponds staff to discuss the intricacies of Lake Encroachment Permits, Shoreland Protection Permits, and site-specific details that can impact a project’s permitting requirements. Participants will have a chance to learn about the project’s design, including shoreline bioengineering techniques like encapsulated soil lifts and infiltration steps. Franklin County NRCD and DEC Lakes & Ponds staff will guide participants through the permitting process and discuss how different aspects of project design impact permitting needs.

This is an outdoor event. Bring water, a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, and/or whatever else you need to be comfortable outdoors.
