Blueberries generally need their soil acidified once a year and fertilized once to twice yearly. They need consistent water and space around the roots free of grass and weeds, as they are shallow-rooted. They may require netting to keep birds away. Labor is involved in establishing them, but they are long-lived and can get quite large. Reading over the Resources below is recommended for new blueberry growers.
