Description
Popular landscape ornamental for shade and foliage. Traded as early as the mid 1600s to enhance landscapes. Native to Vermont.
Other uses for this species include revegetation, buffer plantings and bird habitat. The plant is tolerant of a range of soil types and moisture levels. Red maple is also moderately tolerant to shade. After 20 years, the tree should be at least 25 ft tall. The maximum height is about 70 ft.
