Peach, Blazingstar
Prunus persica ‘Blazingstar’
Family: Rosaceae
1/2"-7/8" stem diameter at sale
Sourced from NY
Description
The Blazingstar peach produces medium to large, round, firm , freestone fruits with golden-yellow flesh and a sweet flavor, making them popular for eating fresh, grilling, or baking. Ripening in August, this hardy variety also shows some resistance to bacterial spot.
Vermont is at the edge of the typical hardiness zones of peaches, and planting into a suitable microclimate can be important to success. Plant in a sunny site, but avoid areas where soil warms quickly in the early spring. This will delay bloom time, reducing risk of frost damage to spring blooms.
