Arrowhead Mountain Lake

Lake Wise

The Franklin County NRCD is offering free Lake Wise consultations to lakeshore property owners on Arrowhead Mountain Lake. Lake Wise visits provide an opportunity for landowners to meet with experts and discuss stormwater management, lake health, and any other particular questions or concerns they may have about their lakeshore properties. Particularly lake-friendly properties may be eligible for the Lake Wise Award.

Aquatic Invasive Species

According to the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, Arrowhead Mountain Lake is categorized as highly disturbed for aquatic invasive species (AIS). While management techniques like pulling invasives can help to suppress their growth, one of the most important ways to support Arrowhead Mountain Lake's native species is AIS spread prevention.

In June 2024, the Franklin County NRCD collaborated with the Georgia and Milton Conservation Commissions to host a "Learn at the Lake!" event at Arrowhead Mountain Lake, with a focus on aquatic invasive species and water quality. Participants learned about the lake's history, how to check their watercraft to prevent AIS spread, and how to identify AIS that are common in Arrowhead Mountain Lake.
