Community Soil Health Events
This fall we began a community soil health program that connects people of all ages through a series of events and upcoming webinars! We kicked off the series in September with an on-farm event with Scott Magnan of Trailside Farm in Georgia, Vermont. Activities were set up for exploring soil health through a variety of hands-on experiments.

We looked at soil structure, evaluated aggregate stability, measured the filtration ability of soils, conducted worm counts, evaluated particle size, and explored soil texture with soils from around the farm.
Our next event is coming up on November 12th we will be partnering with Swanton Library as part of their Swanton Academy program, more info available here: https://www.franklincountynrcd.org/event-details/dig-into-soil-health
Stay tuned for another upcoming event in the new year; more information will be available on our website soon. In the new year we will also be launching our 14-part soil health webinar series. This will expand upon a webinar series we originally produced in 2024 adding additional content, updating with new information learned since then, and including more introductory material.
